Ashley Phillips is an award-winning maverick artist and designer. Ashley’s work spans 3 decades as a commercial artist creating commissions from 500m/2 murals for Pirelli to bespoke printed glass splashbacks for Grand Designs Live. Ashley is just as comfortable working with digital print as paint, plastic bottles, concrete, wood, metal, light, and sound.
“I love experimenting with new surfaces and new technologies to create my art”
Ashley is a child of the 70’s and those wonderful children’s programmes planted many creative seeds and ideas. The Wombles ingrained the need to do something useful with stuff everyday folk leave behind. Mr Ben and The Magic Roundabout inspired him to use his vivid imagination where anything was possible.
Public art needs to have a strong narrative; telling a story and making people think. It can be brave, immersive, experiential and radical and it can also be subtle, small and hidden. It can be permanent and form a land mark and it can be temporary, soft and ephemeral that dissolves or disappears in harmony with nature.
